This week we held our first morning Hearts and Hands! Great success. We had 8 and got lots done. We have also taken on a new group to donated blankets to. Wait till you see what the numbers are for this year!!! Still have deliveries to make before the end of the year but I am shocked what we have accomplished. Thanks to everyone involved.
Heard from the folks at Palmetto Health Foundation, Festival of Trees, and they tell me we raised over $200,000.00 this year. More then ever before in the history of the Festival of Trees. YEA!!!!
Looks like we're going to end this year with 8,539 items delivered to sick and injured children. What a year of growth thanks to the men of Boiling Springs United Methodist Church with the fund raiser giving us $5,000.00 to purchase fabric and yarn, not to mention all of them joining us on the third Tuesday of the month working for us. Some of the best sewers we have. We have now started our day time meeting on the first Tuesday morning of each month. Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year.
To date (12/19/14) 8,539 items have been produced and donated to the children. Thank you Hearts and Hands volunteers! End of year update coming soon!!
BSUMC Sunshine Club met Monday (8/4) for the monthly meeting and conversation soon turned to the Hearts and Hands Ministry. Word had gotten out that a sewing machine had broken and could not be repaired. It was soon decided that a Love Offering would be taken towards purchase of a replacement machine. After the hat was passed, low and behold, enough was collected to outright purchase a new machine. Praise God!!! These senior citizens ROCK!!!!!!! You go guys!!!
For those of you not familiar with the Sunshine Club. This group meets the 1st Monday of each month for fellowship, worship and a meal. Each month there's a special program featuring singing or a speaker. All are welcome. Learn more at http://www.boilingspringsumc.com/
After one of the sewing machines used to create the dolls, blankets, and caps for Hearts and Hands Ministry broke and it was determined that it could not be repaired. Hearts and Hands went shopping for a new machine at Creative Sewing Machine Center at 519 12th Street in West Columbia. Long story short, after explaining the ministry and purchasing a new machine, the good folks at Creative Sewing Center saw it in their hearts to donate a new second sewing machine to Hearts and Hands. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. If you get a chance, make sure to stop by Creative Sewing Machine Center and thank them and maybe pick up a little something for yourself. They're good people!
